Single-vehicle rollover results in fatality on Bonnyville highway

BONNYVILLE – RCMP have provided an update on a serious single-vehicle collision that occurred in the MD of Bonnyville early Sunday evening, confirming the death of one of the vehicle’s occupants.

The passenger, a 55-year-old woman from Bonnyville succumbed to her injuries as a result of the collision, confirmed police. 

The Driver, a 44-year-old resident of Bonnyville, had sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Bonnyville Healthcare Centre. She now remains in hospital in Edmonton. 

Bonnyville RCMP and Station 5 Bonnyville responded to the single vehicle rollover around 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 3. The incident was located on Highway 28 near Range Road 463, southwest of Bonnyville. 

Emergency Crews closed a portion of the highway for several hours as they awaited the arrival of an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist to investigate the incident. 

RCMP confirm that the cause of the collision is still under investigation.  

The RCMP share their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
