SUNDRE — Local Mounties are asking the public for help identifying two theft suspects after responding to a report that 30 trail cameras and nine salt blocks had been stolen from a property in Clearwater County.
On Sunday, Feb. 6, the Sundre RCMP detachment was informed about the incident, which occurred in the Williams Creek Road area some time in the preceding days.
Still images captured on trail cameras showed that on Thursday, Feb. 3, the two suspects were in the Williams Creek Road/Valley area on snowmobiles from about 1 to 6 p.m.
“It is believed that the snowmobiles were loaded onto a vehicle or trailer at a pullout in the area of Kilometre 1 of the Williams Creek Road,” police said in a statement issued Wednesday, Feb. 9.
All of the stolen cameras — worth a combined value of about $6,000 — were Gardepro A3s Trail Game Cameras that are green and black in colour.
Police also reported that another 10 Gardepro A3s Trail Game Cameras valued at a total of $2,000 had also previously been stolen from the same area between Sept.1, 2021 and Oct. 8, 2021.
“The investigation was unable to identify a suspect at that time,” said police.
One of the suspects was operating a black snowmobile and was wearing a dark helmet, a red hoodie underneath the helmet, a grey/brown coloured jacket, and yellow gloves.
The other suspect was operating a red and black snowmobile and was wearing a yellow/white helmet and a black snowmobile jacket with some red writing on the back.
