Woman facing three counts of assaulting a peace officer, among other charges

An Airdrie woman faces multiple charges after resisting arrest following an incident in Sunridge last week.

Airdrie RCMP stated in a press release that officers responded to a disturbance in the Sunridge area around 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 12. According to the release, witnesses reported a woman had assaulted two youths while taking a skateboard from them.

"When police arrived, the female fled on foot," RCMP stated. "After a brief foot chase, officers arrested the female. The female resisted officers during her arrest." 

As a result of the arrest, Kaylee McCaig, a 21-year-old resident of Airdrie, was taken before a Justice of the Peace, where she was released on a $2,000 promise to pay release order.

McCaig is to appear in Airdrie court on Oct. 6 in relation to the multiple charges, including uttering threats; obstruction; attempting to take a peace officer's weapon; mischief under $5,000; assault with a weapon; three counts of assaulting a peace officer; and robbery.
