$1 million worth of jewelry stolen from Cochrane home

Cochrane RCMP are investigating a break and enter after approximately $1 million worth of jewelry was stolen from a rural residence. RCMP members responded to a complaint of a break and enter of a home located on Grand Valley Road on Aug.

Cochrane RCMP are investigating a break and enter after approximately $1 million worth of jewelry was stolen from a rural residence.

RCMP members responded to a complaint of a break and enter of a home located on Grand Valley Road on Aug. 10 after the homeowners found the house ransacked. The police believe the break and enter occurred sometime between Aug. 8 and Aug. 10.

The homeowners reported that approximately $1 million in jewelry, including some very unique jewelry that was made to look like the brand used by the ranch run by the homeowners.

Police reported that the home was off the road and very secure with only one way in and out of the property.

“There were no signs of forced entry and the doors were still locked when the homeowners returned. A window was found to have been opened in order to gain access but again there was no sign it was forced open, ” Const. Jennifer Brewer stated in a press release.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Services is currently assisting in the investigation.
