PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The Cochrane Alliance Church is planning to host a free drive-through pancake breakfast on Sunday (Sept. 6) from 9 to 11 a.m. The event is free for all within the community to attend, but church staff is asking that everyone who plans to attend register online. Registrants are asked to indicate how many people will be in each vehicle, but only one ticket per vehicle is needed. The church is also looking for volunteers for the event. To register to attend, or to volunteer, visit CochraneAlliance.com/.
NO FRILLS, YES MASKS
Another business in Cochrane is enforcing a mandatory mask mandate. Weeks after Wal-Mart announced it would be requiring guests to wear masks in all of its locations, No Frills Cochrane has announced that it will be requiring all customers to wear masks while inside the store to protect patrons and staff as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The new requirement is a company-wide measure taken by all Loblaws owned grocery retailers and includes all Real Canadian Superstore locations as well. The new rule went into effect on Saturday (Aug. 29).
LABOUR DAY PARADE
The 52nd Labour Day Parade Display will be held next Monday (Sept. 7) at the Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sports Centre. In lieu of the usual rolling parade that winds its way through town, the parade floats will be stationary this year, which will allow families to walk among them and maintain distance from one and other. There will be 500 loot bags that will be handed out at the end of the event, live entertainment, and food trucks for those feeling a little peckish. Volunteers are still needed for the event. Visit the Cochrane and Area Events Society’s Facebook page or website for more information or to volunteer for the labour day parade.
