Shortly after 5 a.m., Calgary Police Service advised Cochrane RCMP of a stolen truck entering the detachment area. While the truck was pursued by police, it rammed a Calgary Police truck.
After a brief pursuit, the truck was stopped off-road in the Springbank area. A passenger from the truck fled on foot and eluded immediate apprehension. The driver was arrested with the assistance of a police service dog. The driver sustained some injuries during his arrest.
The driver, a 36 year-old resident of Calgary, remains in custody today and will appear later before a justice of the peace on a number of criminal charges.
