“There are several different types of losses, and we’re kind of witnessing it right now in the pandemic, where right now we have a loss of liberty. We can’t go about our lives like we used to. We have a loss of things that we enjoyed— Going to concerts, going to plays, gatherings, we can’t celebrate the way we did.”

Andrea Blonsky, long-time green thumb and chair of the Cochrane Community Garden Society, shares some tips on how to prepare your garden for the long winter months.

“Do your homework, ask your questions, ask all kinds of questions. That’s what we’re here for,” Haynes said. “It’s important to be educated— It needs to be the right type of product for their home, their lifestyle and their budget.”

With COVID-19 keeping borders shut for non-essential travel between Canada and the U.S. , snowbirds are weighing their options.

“Value community, value personal responsibility in making that community and value themselves. That’s what I hope people will come out of my talk with, are those three things.”
