Special Olympics Alberta is looking to resume programming after COVID-19 suspended the organization's activities. Here in Cochrane, the plan is being finalized and programming should resume shortly.

If Cochrane taxpayers had come to this public hearing, held by the Composite Assessment Review Board (CARB), on Aug. 10 in the Council Chamber, they would have witnessed a strange scene as Town of Cochrane staff defended their unusually low assessment of the Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) large 57 acre property just south of The Quarry commercial area.

“I always found a big, big disconnect between the people in the city, urban Calgarians, with the West,” said Way Out West Fest founder Ingrid Schulz. “It kind of tweaked me all the time that urban Calgary wasn’t getting to experience the West the way you should.”

“I don’t build them to spec or anything because if you do that then you don’t drive them— This way I build it for driving it.”
