Two brothers have been taken into custody and charges have been laid following a shooting that killed one man, injured two other victims and put dozens of Calgarians at risk in Marlborough Park yesterday.
At approximately 2 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, we were called for reports of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Trans Canada Centre, located in the 1400 block of 52 Street N.E. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased man, as well as a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The two surviving victims were transported to hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
Officers from across the Service flooded the area and immediately received valuable information from witnesses on scene, including a description of the suspects and their vehicle, a black truck. Minutes after the incident, patrol officers observed the black truck being driven at high rates of speed in northeast and southeast Calgary. Due to public and officer safety risks, HAWCS was used to follow the truck. The truck was abandoned in the parking lot of CF Chinook Centre, located at 6455 Macleod Trail S.W., where the occupants entered a waiting vehicle and fled to two residences located in the 3200 and 3400 block of 30A Avenue S.E.
Officers contained the residences and took multiple individuals into custody. Throughout the night, officers worked to determine each persons’ involvement, if any. Charges have now been laid against two brothers, aged 14 and 18.
