Police converged on a home in Okotoks and briefly closed a quiet residential street this afternoon.
About half a dozen RCMP vehicles and other first responders were seen in the Sheep River Court area just after 3 p.m. on May 1.
It is believed police were called to the area in response to a gunshot.
Officers on scene did not confirm if a shooting had occurred but said an “active situation” was unfolding, but it has since been resolved.
RCMP called the situation an isolated incident and said there was no danger to the public.
Duane Ward, a neighbour who was in his home at the time, said he called 911 after hearing cries for help coming from outside a home on Sheep River Court.
“I could clearly hear, ‘Help, help, I’ve been shot,”' Ward said.
He said he went outside to find a man collapsed on the front step of a house down the street.
“I phoned 911,” Ward said. “I just tried to calm the guy down and said the police are on their way.”
He said he felt helpless and scared at the time.
“What’s going through your head is like, ‘Holy cow, I don’t want to get shot.'”
He said that one person was taken into custody by police at the scene, and another individual was put into an ambulance that left the scene.
More details are expected to be released by RCMP.
