A 63-year-old Claresholm man was stabbed in the face after a family member entered the home on Boxing Day.

Claresholm EMS and Nanton and Claresholm RCMP responded to a home in the 200 block of 51st Avenue West around 5:25 p.m. after someone called 911 and reported a stabbing on Dec. 26.

Alexander Lavallee, 59, of no fixed address, is now facing several charges.

Police found several members of a family were inside the home when another family member entered the home and assaulted a 61-year-old woman and stabbed a man in the face.

The woman was unharmed but the man was transported to Claresholm Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He left the hospital the same night.

The suspect fled the home before police arrived on scene but he turned himself in a short time later.

Lavallee is charged with uttering death threats, unlawfully being a home, assault and assault with a weapon among others.

He was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a $3,000 promise-to-pay release order. He is slated to appear in Fort Macleod Provincial Court on Jan. 19 to answer to the charges.
