Two dead, one injured after crash on highway south of Calgary

Highway 2A is closed between 434 Avenue and 466 Avenue north of High River following a serious accident on June 14.

Two people are dead and another is in serious condition after a head-on crash south of Okotoks Friday afternoon. 

The crash occurred on Highway 2A south of 434 Avenue at about 3:15 p.m. on June 14. 

Highway 2A is closed in both directions, with traffic being diverted onto 434 and 466 Avenues. 

An EMS spokesperson said two adults were declared deceased at the scene by first responders. 

A third person was transported to hospital by STARS in serious condition, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, EMS said.

Initial reports indicate two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. 

An RCMP collision investigator is enroute and the highway is expected to be closed for several hours. 

No details are available about the cause of the accident.
