With the month of August quickly coming to a close, it's soon to be the beginning of a new season. Fall is just around the corner when September hits the midway point but there are still lots of activities across the Town of Cochrane for locals to enjoy before winter hits. SEPTEMBER 1 TO 3 The 52nd annual Cochrane Lions Labour Day Rodeo will be taking place Sept. 1 to 3 at the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Grounds beginning at 1 p.m. There will be bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding, steer wrestling, and so much more for the community to enjoy. The crowning of the new Cochrane Lions Rodeo Queen will also take place over the course of the three days. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $10 for teens and seniors while children under 12 get in for free. Also on Sept. 3 is the Cochrane Activettes Pancake Breakfast and Labour Day Parade. The breakfast will begin before the parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Northstar Ford. Cost is $3 per person or $10 per family. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. SEPTEMBER 7, 8 AND 9 On Sept. 7 and 8 the Prairie Girls Vintage Market take place Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cochrane Agricultural Society Barn in the Cochrane Ag Society Grounds. There will be many vendors in one location showcasing their vintage, antique, handmade, shabby chic, and farmhouse wares, as well as jewelry and much more. The Clubhouse Art Walk will be taking place on Sept. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clubhouse located at Historic Cochrane Ranche, local artists show and sell their work, giving Cochrane and area art lovers the opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their creations. Also on Sept. 8 is the annual Two Pharmacy Diaper Derby beginning at 11 a.m. “Cochrane’s smallest race” will be divided into two divisions with the Crawlers 0-12 months division as well as the Toddlers 12-24 months category. The Cochrane Classic Car Club Show and Shine is taking place in downtown Cochrane on Sept. 9 with admission being $10 per vehicle. SEPTEMBER 13 The Cochrane Street Market will be held Sept. 13 on First Street in downtown Cochrane starting at 5 p.m. The Cochrane Farmers’ Market in partnership with the Historic Downtown Cochrane businesses invite you to experience a unique shopping experience in our Historic Downtown. Enjoy market vendors, artisans, food trucks, music, buskers and late night shopping at local businesses. SEPTEMBER 16 The annual Cochrane Terry Fox Run will be on Sept. 16 at Mitford Park. Bring your friends and family and take part in a fun filled event with other participants, volunteers, donors and people throughout your community. SEPTEMBER 22 From 1 to 3 p.m., McDougall Memorial United Church Site invites you to watch traditional dances and learn about the history of the dances, as it’s an opportunity to buy Stoney Crafts, watch a beading demonstration and enjoy an afternoon out on the beautiful prairies. Join them at this special event which marks Treaty Seven Day. There will also be an Art Walk, featuring art created using the charcoal from the burnt church. Also on Sept. 22 will be the Cochrane Mind, Body and Soul Show featuring artisans, health and fitness instructors and holistic practitioners. The event will take place at the Lions Event Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SEPTEMBER 29 The 10th annual Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation Monumental Tournament of Aces at the Links of Gleneagles will be taking place on Sept. 29. Also on the 29th will be the Cochrane Outhouse Races on Main Street. Races start at 10:00 a.m. with door prizes and sidewalk sales.
