Cochrane’s dance studios celebrated successful seasons and showcased the passion and dedication their students bring to the stage in separate performances over the last couple of weeks.
Snap’s studio manager Alison Stutz said 300 youth performed in her studio’s recital at RockPointe Church in Bearspaw last Saturday. The all-day show highlighted dancers from pre-school to advanced categories.
“It was great, especially in that first show with the little guys,” said Stutz. “Mom and Dad are always so proud … the crowd always has a great energy.”
The previous weekend, Eurhythmics also performed in front of a packed audience of friends, family and fans at Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary to honour the school’s 20th anniversary.
Alumni from the last two decades even joined current dancers and teachers – including owner Jodi Aasen – during a jubilant lyrical jazz routine titled Seasons of Love.
“To me, it was just overwhelming. I can’t believe that this studio has come this far,” said Aasen. “To dance with the girls that I’ve taught since they were so tiny and now they’re all grown up, married with children … was just amazing.”
Eurhythmics will now remain closed through June and July while staff prepares to open a second location in Bow Ridge in August, while Snap dancers will have a chance to try out different genres during the school’s trial sessions over the next couple of weeks before that studio also shuts down for the summer.
