The Venue Bar and Grill will be hosting the five-piece hippie rock band Daring Greatly on April 20 and 21 after the group makes its long-awaited return from Southern California.
The band, which is originally from Calgary, is currently touring Canada and the United States, consists of a father, Dail Croome, his two sons, Patrick and Liam Croome, and their two best friends, Brayden Tario and Brandon Haddow. The group has been touring for nearly three years and has recorded two full-length albums titled Works of Arts, which is a diverse blend of Classic Rock, Blues and Jazz riffs, and Cornerstones, which was released in 2016.
The band has also opened for Bon Jovi at the Las Vegas T-Moblie Arena, as well as The Doobie Brothers and The Struts.
Dail Croome grew up with music and longs for his music to touch people in the same way that songs and artists have shaped his own passion and memories and even helped him cope with loss.
Croome studies at the University of Guelph in the Management Economics Program, but decided to go to Nashville and take a shot at becoming a professional singer and songwriter. Croome returned home to Canada disappointed with the results of his Nashville experience, but continued his love for music. Croome had both sons singing with him on stage at early ages and enrolled them into piano lessons at age six.
Patrick, who is the older of the two Croome brothers, plays acoustic guitar for the band, while also writing the lyrics. Croome took almost 10 years of Royal Conservatory piano lessons, while also playing the soprano saxophone in the school band for three years. He has also made his own musical mark in the Calgary area, winning and placing in a handful of the dozens of singing competitions, in which he participated.
Liam is an active member of the Daring Greatly songwriting process. In addition to his musical contributions, he truly enjoys expressing himself by collaborating on lyrics. As a youth, he participated in multiple talent contests, winning Calgary Junior Idol when he was 11. Liam, when he was just 13, also won Calgary’s Got Talent, with his brother Patrick. The younger of the two Croome siblings took seven years of Royal Conservatory classical lessons in Calgary and continues to play the piano for the band.
Tario started playing the piano at a young age before switching over the drums at the age of nine. At the age of 17, Tario joined a Calgary area metal band called Samsara, who he played with for three years, before transferring over to a cover band called Strange Arrangement, which is now known as Daring Greatly after they started writing their own songs in 2014.
Haddow is the band’s electric guitarist. He didn’t start playing the instrument until he was 14 and joined Samsara with Tario at 16, playing Metallica and other huge metal and rock bands of the era. He joined the Daring Greatly around the same time as Tario and has been with the band ever since.
