The four-man band titled Matt Beatty and The Hot Tamales will be making its Cochrane debut when the group rocks The Venue Bar and Grill on June 15. The Hot Tamales is a top-40 classic variety band that has been a main stay in Calgary's music scene for the last decade. The band is made up of keys, guitar and vocalist Glenn Baker, drums and vocalist Kent Macrae, bass and vocalist John Sinclair and Matt Beatty who is on lead vocals and plays the guitar. Beatty was born in Calgary and has been performing for over the last 15 years. Over that time Beatty has developed into one of the most diverse artists. His diversity starts with his instruments as he's not just a great guitarist, Matt also regularly performs as a bassist and as a drummer. Beatty is well regarded as a musical chameleon and his acoustic show features Beatty and his acoustic guitar while his sequence show features tracks from all the different styles Beatty performs and is a great way to really grasp his versatility. A band called The 2nd String Cowboys allowed Beatty to focus on country music which he recently was featured as a semi-finalist in the Country 105 contest Rising Star. Beatty created a group called Double Suede to satisfy his desire to play blues and jazz music. With this versatility, Beatty has performed for a wide range of clients such as the Calgary Corporate Challenge, the Wayne Gretzky & Friends Golf Tournament and at Global Fest Fireworks. Matt Beatty has performed all over western Canada in honky-tonks like Wild Bills (Banff) to world class resorts such as The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Most recently, Beatty was part of the official Calgary Grey Cup Committee band that performed a variety of shows in Toronto for the Grey Cup in 2016 and also performed in Ottawa during the 2017 Grey Cup. Beatty also takes great pride in his history of playing outside Canada for events such as Canada Day in Vladivostok Russia, or an all inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic and most notably at the legendary home of the Beatles, the Cavern Club in Liverpool. Matt Beatty and The Hot Tamales has been seen through many different media formats such as Global TV and The Calgary Herald. Not to mention a front page spread in the Star Phoenix in Saskatoon plus recent banner spreads in the Montreal Gazette, Edmonton Sun and Vancouver Province. From the Beatles to Metallica, Johnny Cash to Bruno Mars, the band will take you on an exciting musical journey, and is sure to have your group dancing and singing but most importantly, having fun.
