With warmer weather just around the corner, there will be plenty of indoor and outdoor activities scheduled for the month of March in town.

Everything kicks off on March 3 with the Cochrane Spring Farmers’ Market.

The Cochrane Farmer’s Market will be heading to Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre to set up indoors until the park is ready for the outdoor season. There will be plenty of vendors from the summer market, as well as some new faces – a great way to replenish your pantry, fill your freezer or find the unique and handcrafted works of art. The market will go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also another market taking place on March 24.

On March 10 the Town of Cochrane will host its third ClubHouse Art Walk of 2018, which will be used as a chance for local artists to show and sell their work, and for Cochrane art lovers to meet the artists and learn about their creations.

The first Art Walk of 2018 took place Jan. 13 and had a bit of a different flavour to it according to Arts and Culture Programmer Jola Muran.

“The concept of the ClubHouse Art Walk was to include the park as apart of the potential art walk. We had our first launch during the farmers’ market back in the fall, which it led people up the road to the ClubHouse,” Muran said.

“The first floor, as you walk in, will create a bit of education and show smaller work, and then the second floor will be the artist’s show and sale, where we have other artists presenting their work.”

There will also be a featured artist as well, but that artist will be named at a later date. The free event will go rain or shine and will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On March 17, join Glenbow Ranch Park and Calgary’s Modern and Mindful for an exploratory mindful walk series. These 10 a.m. to noon seasonal walks will provide a sensory experience for the five senses, putting the brain into a calm and meditative state while walking and enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. Rediscover the joy of nature through a guided mindful walk, and prepare to be astounded at how much more aware the body becomes with a mindful mindset. There will also be an adult-only walk and a family-friendly walk for those with children ages three and up. For more details on the event, visit www.grpf.ca/events.

Glenbow Ranch will also be hosting a Star Night at the Park event on March 24. They partnered with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Calgary Centre for a night of stars and planet gazing. Telescopes will be provided for participants’ use and there is a chance that one or two of Jupiter’s moons will be visible. The night will begin at 8 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. It is outdoors so dress warmly for the occasion.
