The first half of the month of October has already been a busy one around the community. The first few weeks included events such as the Canadian Brewhouse's second annual Lobsterfest, the monthly Clubhouse Art Walk as well as the Foothills Art Club annual Fall Show and Sale and local artist Lucas Chaisson performing at St. Andrews Church this past week. The remaining two weeks will be equally as busy starting on Oct. 19. OCTOBER 19, 20 and 21 On Oct. 19 to 21 is the Cochrane Humane Society Fall Book Sale from 12 to 4 p.m. on all three days. A wide selection of new releases, true crime, romance, children’s books, cook books, biographies, books about pets, travel books, DVDs, VHS, and CDs will be available. Book sale donations began Oct. 9 and will go all the way through until the 19. The Stockmen's Memorial Foundation annual Dinner and Auction will take place Oct. 20 at the Cochrane Ranchehouse. The doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner going two hours later at 7. Tickets for the event are $75 per person with all the funds going to support the Stockmen's Memorial Foundation Bert Sheppard Library and Archives. Also on the 20th is the third annual Women's Show at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event is designed to celebrate all women with more than 50 exhibits including handmade treasures, beauty bar, a creative workshop and much more. Admission is priced at $5 per person. The seventh annual Taste of Cochrane event where you get the chance to sample what local companies have to offer will also be on Oct. 20. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m with tickets going for $25. The price includes sampling at all participants, as well as, a bus service to help get to the locations that are further away and a map of all locations participating. To wrap up the busy day will be the Venue Bar and Grill's Night at the Improv with live entertainment and a silent auction. For $35, experience a night of entertainment provided by The Kinkonauts Improv Lab AND The Bow River Band. Buy a ticket, enjoy a steak sandwich, and drink all while supporting the Boys & Girls Club. On Oct. 21 there will be the fourth annual fall artisan market at the Bearspaw Lions Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year, will feature more than 20 unique, handmade and homemade vendors, plus one of your favourite cookware companies – Pampered Chef for a total of 21 amazing, local vendors. OCTOBER 26 Two events will be taking place on Oct. 26, starting off with the Paisley Boutique Fashion Show at the Cochrane Ranchehouse. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with the event starting at 8 p.m. Appetizers, door prizes and fashion are all included with tickets priced at $45. Also on the 26th is the Cochrane Pumpkin Lantern Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cochrane Ranche. There will also be live entertainment and food trucks.
