Cochrane’s annual Medieval Day has added another layer of authenticity to this year’s celebrations – as scores of clamorous mungs can now imbibe with a horn of mead or a stein of ale whilst watching the battles between Vikings and knights.
Hosted by Half Hitch Brewing Company and Fallentimber Meadery and dubbed the Medieval Ale House and Meadery, guests over 18 years old can enjoy a drink around the arenas during the anticipated Cochrane Public Library event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The family-friendly feudal festivities will also feature the Calgary Renaissance Singers, Scottish storyteller Calum Lykan, the Sons of Fenrir Scandinavian reenactment troupe, a puppet show, a harpist and more.
For Cochranites who want to start their primitive party early, Knights and Ladies will also grace the streets of Historic Downtown and mingle with the townfolk tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at the monthly street market. The medieval matrons will munch on MacKay’s ice cream at approximately 7 p.m.
