Second theatre season in full swing

Cochrane’s own Teatro dell’Eco and the Town of Cochrane, Recreation Culture and the Arts are launching the second annual Cochrane Theatre Season.

After last year’s success that left the community wanting more, the 2017-18 live performance program will take place at the Cochrane Ranchehouse and promises a variety of shows over the course of the year… this year’s line up features five shows.

This is a story based on the popular book written by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, about Pinkalicious, who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents … her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe, a dream come true for a pink loving enthusiast. But when Pinkalicious’ colour goes too far, only she can figure out a way to get out of her very pink predicament. Pinkalicious the Musical will be on Nov. 25 at 2. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children ten and under.

Treasure Island is brought to you by Cochrane Vision Theatre, and has been providing many opportunities for Cochrane residents to experience and perform live theatre for over 20 years. The play is Dec. 1,2,3,8,9,10, with the show running at various times. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

When a no-nonsense, middle-aged daughter returns home for her offbeat mother’s funeral, she finds herself at an unexpected crossroads. Reality and Nostalgia collide in this comedy production about the complicated relationship between mothers and daughters, and the powers of a nice cup of tea. The play is told in the silent storytelling tradition of Buster Keaton and Mr. Bean. A world premiere from Small Matters Productions, an Edmonton based-theatre company dedicated to creating and performing original works of clown and interactive theatre for adults. Over Her Dead Body will be in Cochrane Feb. 3 at 7:30. Tickets are $25.

Camille Renarhd is an interdisciplinary artist who performs solo modern dance using image and sound to revitalize our relationships with the body in social, poetic and physical realm. Renarhd will be performing Feb. 17 and tickets will be $25.

Concert pianist, composer and conductor Emilio DeMercato presents an evening of classical piano repertoire. An active performer since the age of nine, DeMercato’s extensive range from baroque to contemporary music as a soloist, with chamber ensembles and with orchestras across Europe, Asia and North America. DeMercato will be in town April 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
