The town of Cochrane is look at ways to rearrange the pieces of the Canada 150 Mosiac Mural so they appear in the intended order.
The colourful and vibrant mural, which was unveiled on Sept. 30, is on the building next to the Tim Bannister Outdoor Arena. Pieces of the mural are in the wrong order and were also placed that way when it was unveiled during Canada Day.
The mural is suppose to start with images portraying the town’s aboriginal and western heritage, while then moving into hikers, children at play and a fly fisherman, all being carried on old-fashioned train cars. As it stands now, the mural begins with the fly fisherman, then transfers into the aboriginal and western heritage, hikers and then finally the children at play.
The Canada 150 Mosaic Mural was $30,000 for the town of Cochrane to complete, while the funds came from another Mural Mosaic. Posters of the “Trust” mural were completed in 2007, and is the largest of all the 150 murals completed across Canada.
Posters created of the mural are available for purchase at the Town Information Centre and the Recreation and Culture Department office at the Cochrane Ranche House for $65. The posters are in the correct order, and are autographed by Lewis Lavoie of Mural Mosaic.
