The Rotary Club of Cochrane is hosting its annual Youth Talent Festival from Nov. 5 to 7. It is a community run and funded opportunity, helping the next generation to develop their confidence and talent that will ultimately have a profound impact on the community and its future.

Young people of Cochrane, up to the age of 18, will have the opportunity to perform for an adjudicator who will encourage excellence and growth. Preliminary perfomrances of the talent show will be held in Cochrane Toyota’s community room.

The grand finale evening on Nov. 10 at Rock Pointe Church will be the culmination of the festival and will feature a fast-paced, high-level show where performers compete for cash prizes, all thanks to a panel of celebrity judges.

Organizer Cyndie Baum says the location for says particpants and spectators can look forward to exemplary performances.

“This year is special as it’s our country’s 150th birthday and we will be celebrating with a choir, an original song by one of our past performers, dancers and drummers,” she said.

“We chose Rock Pointe Church because it is the perfect venue for the singing and dancing that will make up this amazing night.”

In addition to all the festivities, the Rumpel family will once again award the $10,000 The Gordon and Illa Rumpel Scholarship. The scholarship awards $2,000 to the winners of the finale.

Last year’s recipients of the scholarships were: Gizelle de Guzman, Kaleigh Jo Kirk, Ashley Schneberger, Peter Skrypnek and Sydney Mae.

The Finale at Rock Pointe Church will start at 6:30 p.m. with free admission. For more information, visit www.cochraneyouthtalent.ca.
