Ag land sale breach of trust

As an Albertan, may I comment on this potential breach of trust. Firstly, let me congratulate the late Mr. Don Edge, Dr. Tittermore and Mr. Gordon Lackey for successfully establishing the noted Cochrane Agricultural Society on the current site some 30 years ago. It takes the joint effort of thousands of volunteers to accomplish and maintain this site, demonstrating the true community spirit and financial support to develop this agricultural society location.

I believe that Rocky View County would be committing a serious breach of trust if it moves to sell this land out from under this not-for-profit community volunteer group. I can appreciate that the benefits evolving from the operations of the agricultural society are indeed difficult to measure, yet these benefits are many indeed and flow to the benefit of both the Town of Cohcrane and Rocky View County, plus an expansion of benefits far beyond either.

Such a wonderful development, accomplished through volunteerism has provided much intergenerational therapy for the heart and soul of your communities. I can well understand children assisting their parents and grandparents carrying on the upkeep and improvement of this recreation from that was started by many who have passed on; such is the heart and soul of your community. Please don’t let some over-anxious politician destroy it all.
