Bylaw will ensure responsible hen care

Not knocking you, Glen, but there are clean farms and there are dirty farms. Probably, like the problems with other people's cats and dogs. Don't tar everyone by the attitude of others who do not clean up after their pets.

Not knocking you, Glen, but there are clean farms and there are dirty farms. Probably, like the problems with other people's cats and dogs. Don't tar everyone by the attitude of others who do not clean up after their pets. All animals deserve a clean environment in which to live. Chickens, pigs and lambs are only as clean and tidy as their human owners. We have bylaws to penalize those who stray outside the boundaries of health and safety. People will lose their licence to keep animals in the house or backyard if they violate the bylaw. In the meantime, the lucky few who can look after their animals will be enjoying fresh eggs daily, the friendship of an intelligent pig, and the cuddliness of a lamb.

To each his own. But scoop the poop as it falls.

PS. Gardeners will be delighted by the pest control provided by hens; no matter what kind of care they receive.

PPS: People who live with farm animals are healthier and have fewer allergies. (Robin Geunther, CBC.CA/SPARK Dec. 7, 2016)
