Cyclists need to lose sense of entitlement

Well, well, well, the cyclists are at it again.

Well, well, well, the cyclists are at it again. And your favourite cyclist lover is ready to chime in!

It doesn’t even surprise me anymore that cyclists make the dangerous choice to not follow the rules and to instead force drivers on already narrow roads to swerve around them. I am so sick of the argument that the laws need to change so “somebody not a cyclist” can ride their bikes dangerously close or over the shoulder of a road just because it suits them.

Cry me a river and get some cheese to go with that wine. If you want to be treated like somebody’s mom, brother, sister, cousin, stepfather twice removed on your uncle’s dad’s side, how about stop acting like you are entitled to more space than the driver of a vehicle whom the road was built for. It's called sharing the road!

Horse Creek Road is a perfect example, or how about up Township 262? These rural property owners didn’t ask to have their only way in and out of their homes blocked up every weekday and weekend by selfish cyclists riding three abreast.

To Dan specifically, Dan, I like you, you’re a good guy, but come on! The law should never be changed to favour cyclists in these rural areas and especially along the 1A Highway west of Cochrane. These are major highways and are dangerous enough without adding idiot cyclists who already cannot follow the law. Change the laws? What makes you think cyclists will follow them even then? Do you know how many times I’ve made my stop correctly at any number of four-way stops in Cochrane only to be completely cut off by some selfish pedal-pushing spandex junkie?

Learn to follow the law as it exists and then we can talk, but spitting at someone who is asking you to follow the law is disgraceful. If you break the law, you’re still a mother, father, brother or sister, but you still broke the law.
