Debt of gratitude

Dear editor: I pen this letter to express my deepest, most profound gratitude for exposing my personal pursuit of peace for all mankind.

Dear editor:

I pen this letter to express my deepest, most profound gratitude for exposing my personal pursuit of peace for all mankind.

With the events that occurred last week resulting in the deaths of two of my comrades/brothers-at-arms, I was compelled to act in the way I acted over a four-day period of Sentry Duty on behalf of the Town of Cochrane. My actions of this last weekend was an act of solidarity that serves to indicate that criminal actions against two of my comrades-at-arms, it hurts like hell and I feel the pain of the families they left behind. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Ryan McLeod for picking up on this matter.

Brian Walford, I owe a huge debt of gratitude for all you and your wife Maureen’s efforts and support during this vigil. It’s been a real privilege and honour to stand side by side with you and to march side by side with you... and the hot soup we shared was totally awesome!

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Steve Jordan, poppy campaign manager. You, sir, will not be forgotten...ever.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the citizens, babies and seniors of the town of Cochrane, Alberta, for allowing me and my partner, Brian, to carry out this solemn tribute and for your abundant generosity and support — with all the hot beverages, soup, chili, donuts and the displays of pure emotion and sincere encouragements. Without you, this vigil on your behalf would have been very much harder than what it was.

It was a pure honour and pleasure to have served you like this. I hope this serves to ease the pain or whatever you are feeling about this situation.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the staff running the Legion.

Your loyal servant,

Cpl Ret. Steve G. Merritt CD
