Dear editor:
This letter is a plea to local law enforcement to increase patrols of regular traffic offences.
The first is the total disregard of traffic lights, and the hot-rodding/racing of vehicles through downtown streets.
I live downtown at one of the major intersections and also walk my dog everyday around the downtown core. Every single day, I see at least two vehicles run red lights. These are not yellow turning red; they are red before they even enter the intersection.
The other is the large number of loud vehicles that squeal tires, speed around the streets and drown out everything with loud exhaust systems, which are either by choice or just plain disrepair.
It’s getting ridiculous and dangerous. It’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. We need a stronger presence of patrols to try and control this.
