Grateful for traffic monitoring on Quigley

A group of West Valley residents would like to pass along our thanks to the RCMP, Town of Cochrane Municipal Enforcement, Roads Division and Citizens on Patrol.

A group of West Valley residents would like to pass along our thanks to the RCMP, Town of Cochrane Municipal Enforcement, Roads Division and Citizens on Patrol.

We know that speeding is an issue throughout the Cochrane community and especially in those communities which have major thoroughfares such as ours, in particular Quigley Drive.

In late January, we had a noticeable increase in speeding in the 30k zone from the school sites to well past them, and further along into the district. (Warm weather?) It became so severe that as residents we were beginning to be fearful for the children that walk back and forth to these schools, along with the noise that sometimes comes with modified street vehicles.

After consultation with RCMP, Municipal Enforcement and Roads, we, as residents visibly noticed an increase in their presence providing enforcement and education to drivers who used this road during the month of February. We saw the speed signs posted and believe that the combination of these efforts had an effect in reducing speeds back down to the posted limit. While we understand the realities of demands upon these organizations time, we were most impressed with the service you provided to us and that as a group of concerned citizens we were able to bring our issues to you all and in return saw a joint effort from you to address our concerns. We hope this blitz of education and enforcement has helped to remind us all of the speed limits in this particular area and we welcome you anytime!
