Those of us who consider ourselves to be true conservatives voted in the NDP to put a stop to what these so-called conservatives were doing to us. They were nothing like the conservatives we proudly supported under Peter Lougheed and Don Getty. We certainly agree with MLA Cam Westhead that the UCP and its supporters are spreading all sorts of lies, making themselves look really foolish. My question to letter writer Ron Voss is why are you believing them, and if you are such a great Conservative why did you elect Ralph Klein, allowing him to destroy what our hero Lougheed created for us? Did Voss enjoy watching how Klein treated our doctors, nurses and teachers like third-class citizens? Closing their hospitals, hospital beds, and cutting 5,000 nursing positions, under funding our education system, without a care or concern about who would get hurt. And there was nothing smart about giving us the highest power bills in Canada, as former Conservative MLAs have pointed out. A huge increase in costs to our health care and education systems.
The Klein our family knew in the 1960s always bragged about being a Liberal, and continued to do so as mayor of Calgary. Getty told me in 2003 that inviting Liberal Klein into the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party was the dumbest thing he ever did, and I certainly agreed.
Now guys like Voss are willing to support Jason Kenney, ignorant of the fact that Kenney just happens to be another former Liberal. He was an assistant to Ralph Goodale, who is now Justin Trudeau's right-hand man, in the Liberal Party in Regina.
So while these Albertans go around calling themselves Conservatives they support Liberals, proving they will automatically support anyone who attaches the word Conservative to their name, without looking at their background. It certainly doesn't make them look very smart does it?
