It appears common sense and respect is sadly lacking in regards to the off leash dog park in Cochrane.
This gong show originated when the Town of Cochrane designated this park as multi use, i.e. a mixture of off leash dogs getting their required exercise, seniors, cyclists, children, scooters, disabled, and the odd person in an out of control rage over a dog scuffle.
This isn’t rocket science; designate this park as off leash only or put up a fence to separate the dogs and people who purposely put themselves in a vulnerable position. There are numerous other pathways in Cochrane for cyclists to use and I would hope when doing so they adhere to the rules.
What is the difference between a speeding cyclist hitting a dog and leaving the scene and a car hitting a human and leaving the scene? I would recommend that seniors and others out for a leisurely walk, take a different route than the off leash area. It’s like grabbing a hornet’s nest and not expecting to get stung.
Use your brains people and have a little respect for others.
