Laura Talsma best choice for UCP

With respect to Phil Cape’s endorsement of Morgan Nagel as the UCP candidate for our riding, one thing I would agree with is that “Cochrane must have a voice at the table” of the new government in 2019.

With respect to Phil Cape’s endorsement of Morgan Nagel as the UCP candidate for our riding, one thing I would agree with is that “Cochrane must have a voice at the table” of the new government in 2019. The question is what kind of voice? At one of his campaign events, Morgan Nagel declared, “I’m 100 per cent focused on economic and financial issues and I won't get tied up with social stuff.” For someone running as a conservative, being fiscally prudent should be a no-brainer, and I presume that would apply to all those running to be the UCP candidate. I would contend that what we need is more than a one-note MLA, but, rather, a multidimensional MLA. Someone like Laura Talsma. In addition to a focus on the economy and regularly engaging the grassroots as part of her campaign, Laura, as a nurse, sees healthcare as an important issue. As a mother the three young children, Laura also appreciates the importance of parental rights in education, an issue that received overwhelming endorsement by the grassroots members at the UCP’s Founding Convention in Red Deer in May. Again, what we need to represent us is a full-package MLA. Ron Voss
