LGBTQ teens should be proud of themselves

To the brave, smart, articulate students who shared their stories in “Why can't we be part of the normal” I was awed when I read this article last week and saw how authentically and honestly teens today can stand in their truth.

To the brave, smart, articulate students who shared their stories in “Why can't we be part of the normal”

I was awed when I read this article last week and saw how authentically and honestly teens today can stand in their truth. It felt like such a great step forward.

There is something about standing out there willing to say, "this is who I am" that we can all learn a lesson from. The more each of us can stand up for our own unique differences the more we will notice that in reality we are all the same.

So, while I did not sit down to write a letter to the newspaper last week to tell you that, today, when I opened the paper and read what one person did write, I felt compelled to tell you that I feel differently than that one person.

I wholeheartedly want to tell you that I applaud you. I would like nothing more than to see you fearlessly take on this life and teach us all, while we watch you change our world.

Despite what anyone says.
