The lady doth protest too much, methinks Ms. Hawkwood protests that my letter is “full of opinions, but short of facts” even though, not my opinions, but, rather, the voices of her ideological fellow global warming advocates and alarmists were cited in my letter in response to her bogus claim that “ideology has nothing to do with efforts to reduce the effects of the climate changing burning of fossil fuels.”
On the other hand, all one got from Ms. Hawkwood was her opinions, like the opinion that the wildfires in Fort McMurray, aligned with the thinking of her socialist friend Naomi Klein, were caused by climate change! And she calls me "hysterical"? You name the malady or weather occurrence, and all you have to do is shout “abracadabra,” er, “climate change!”
If Ms. Hawkwood can bear dealing with some facts, not her opinions (like her alarmist over-the-top claim of "dealing with the highest danger mankind has ever faced"), the fact is that wildfires aren’t getting worse.
Data from both the U.S. and Canada show the number of wildfires has declined over the past 40 to 50 years and that the number of wildfires was higher during the 'global cooling' scare of the 1970s. The U.S. government’s National Interagency Fire Center has reported that U.S. wildfires now occur “half as often as they did 50 years ago.”
