With a fast approaching general election it is an exciting time in Alberta politics and for Cochrane in particular. With the new boundary lines coming into effect next election, Cochrane finds itself with an amazing opportunity . For years Cochrane has endured with representation from outside the community. Our current MLA hails from Bragg Creek , before him the MLA was from Canmore and before him Banff. But with Cochrane representing more than 50 per cent of this new riding, we now have the chance to send someone from this community to the legislature. With all polls showing we are in store for a new government in 2019, there will many changes and new decisions made. Cochrane must have a voice at that decision-making table. That is why I support Morgan Nagel in his bid to become the UCP candidate for our riding . Morgan has been working hard for this town for the better part of a decade and thoroughly understands our issues and needs. He has a proven conservative track record, he interned at the Manning Centre. worked for Stephen Harper and was instrumental in the UCP unification process. Through his work on Jason Kenney’s leadership team and subsequent employment with the party, he has become a respected and listened to voice within the UCP. Although it is at the leader's discretion, if the UCP does form government next year, I believe Morgan is Cochrane’s best chance to have a voice at the cabinet table and I believe we must not squander this amazing opportunity. That is why I support Morgan and I hope you will too. Phil Cape
