Dear editor:
On Aug. 9, our lives changed forever with the sudden passing of our dearly loved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, fellow cadet and friend.
We, the family of Lamont Murphy, gratefully acknowledge the overwhelming support: the cards, donations of food baskets, floral arrangements, donations made in memory, texts, emails, Facebook messages and visits to the memorial and funeral services.
Cadet stories told by Captain Johnny Mo and other commanding officers about Lamont brought laughter and joy at a time of great sadness.
Thanks to the community of Cochrane, the 2512 KOCR RCACC staff and cadets, Kings Own Calgary Regiment, Army Cadet League of Canada (Alberta), Army Cadet League of Canada (Alberta) Southern Zone, Area Cadet Officer Captain Krissy Doner and (Piper) Cadet Warrant Michael O`Sullivan, Kara Hughes and the 2512 KOCR RCACC parents committee.
We would like to thank Pastor Jason Dimnik and the Cochrane Alliance Church, the friends of Lamont who were pallbearers and all those who participated and attended the service.
Also we thank the funeral home and the RCMP for their compassion and professionalism, and Trotter and Morton for time and respect given to Keith and Kari.
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 15, Colour Guard and the flying of flags at half-mast.
While it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please be assured that your thoughtfulness and kindness is appreciated and will always be remembered.
For those of you who knew Lamont, may you never forget his kind heart and that beautiful smile.
To the 2512 KOCR RCACC staff and cadets, may you always remember your friend, Lamont, and carry on in his name.
A leader, an inspiration, but most of all a friend, you will always be remembered.
Thank you for your time here. Rest peacefully. (ALPHA 2014).
Keith and Kari Murphy
