Dear editor:
A special note of thanks to Kelly Kimmett and all of the volunteers who did an outstanding job organizing the seventh annual Kimmett Cup Pond Hockey Tournament.
It brought 400 players from Cochrane, Calgary, B.C., Ontario and the surrounding area for a whale of fun and great outdoor sport.
Believe it or not, the cell phones and lab tops were replaced with hockey sticks, skates and a lot of good “old tyme fun”.
The nearby restaurants were busy with young hockey players filling up with breakfast before the game.
The always-present Cochrane Lions Club donated their time and talent cooking up hamburgers for the crowd and support for the Children’s Wish Foundation.
The proceeds went primarily to the Wish Foundation with some help to the Helping Families Handle Cancer group.
My part in the live auction brought in $ 9,250 for eight items – talk about support.
To date, the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation has raised $1,300,000.
Thanks Kelly and family; you help make Cochrane a better place.
Stu Bradley
