Dear editor:
I am very impressed with councillor Morgan Nagel’s ability to stand up against the “experienced” councillors and vote ‘no’ regarding the scope of the proposed pool complex.
I have not spoken to one person who supports the project and the high costs associated with it. I, also, do not know anyone who uses the pool regularly or has a season pass. I doubt a new facility would change this fact. Given the size of Cochrane, I can only assume a small number of people actually believe the pool complex is a great idea and those are the people who council has heard from and think represent the mass opinion. Well, I don’t support the extravagant complex, the astronomical cost, borrowing to the maximum, higher user fees or higher taxes to build this complex.
The proposed pool is a ‘want’ by a small percentage of people and we ‘need’ so much more first.
Thank you, Morgan, for standing up for those taxpayers you represent. That will be remembered at election time.
