Put up a parking lot

I would like to add my vote to have the old KFC site to be included as part of the Tri-Site discussion. In my opinion, this site has equal value to the town as any of the other parcels of land.

I would like to add my vote to have the old KFC site to be included as part of the Tri-Site discussion. In my opinion, this site has equal value to the town as any of the other parcels of land. This suggestion may be too soon in the process but here’s what I would hope will be discussed for this site. I would like to see at least the KFC portion of the old town hall site be used for motor home/5th wheel parking. I have talked to businesses along our historic main street and one of the concerns they have is parking. Many of the businesses have told me that the motor homes and 5th wheels have difficulty accessing this part of the town because of a lack of suitable parking. Imagine keeping the park that is currently located on the old town hall site adjacent to motor home/5th wheel parking. If this was to take place: • Additional business would be attracted to main street. • There could be increased ‘walkability’ for people using motor homes/5th wheels shopping on Main street. • There would be increased access to the center of main street. • There would be the possibility of short term pay parking from motor homes/5th wheels. You would have an income source with little additional work. • The town would address a critical need for motor homes/5th wheels that might otherwise drive past Cochrane without stopping for a meal/ice cream/shopping. • The town would preserve green space in the core of Cochrane. • The town would promote tourism for this section of town. • The town could feel confident in this use without any fear of affecting any future traffic work to expand Highway 1A. We already have some landmark businesses such as MacKay’s Cochrane Ice Cream, Donair On The Run, Cochrane Coffee Traders and My Greek Plate to name just a few. These businesses already attract out of town customers, why not use this opportunity to assist all of main street businesses? Dan Cunin
