Dear editor:
On behalf of the participants, volunteers, sponsors and the Santa Claus Committee, I would like to thank the community for supporting the first ever Cochrane Santa Claus Parade and Santa’s visits to the community over the last week.
I would also like to thank the parade participants, our sponsors and our willing volunteers; without you we couldn’t have achieved a fantastic parade and community visits.
At 5 p.m. when I signalled the first float to make its way onto the street and I saw the street lined with 12,000-plus people from Cochrane and area, I must admit it brought a lump to my throat. All those very happy, smiling faces young and old. The hard work it has taken to put these events together was worthwhile.
We are a small committee of a few crazy individuals who had a dream and believed we could bring the town of Cochrane some special Christmas cheer. Thank you committee for your continued support and commitment.
The support and feedback that we have received for the five nights of Santa’s visits into the community has been excellent. Thank you for coming out in the cold to see us.
I hope that we have spread a little happiness and cheer this festive season and that we achieved our aim of “creating those childhood memories”
