There has been much hullabaloo lately about carbon levies.
Some people are calling Canada's attempt to clean up our world and mitigate climate change a cash grab by whatever level of government (provincial or federal) it's initiated.
Here are two amounts on my latest Direct Energy (residential gas bill).
Carbon Levy $4.46: Reasonable
Town of Cochrane access fee $5.51: Unreasonable
Yes folks - the Town of Cochrane rakes in this tax from you by stealth every month via both your gas and electricity bills.
Now that is a cash grab.
