Dear editor:
The Ghost Valley clearcut logging by Spray Lake Sawmills needs to be stopped.
Having done logging, I am not against the practice, but opposed to the present destruction along the Ghost River east of Saddle Peak along the Trans Alta road, and the planned destruction of both the Lesueur Creek Ridge and the Jamiesen Road forest.
At present, proper buffers are not being done along roads and creeks and no consideration is being made for the large volume of people visiting the Ghost Valley. People who live in the Ghost Valley, Cochrane and Calgary come through as the quickest way to get to the mountains to enjoy its natural beauty with the many various activities that are allowed.
Instead, it is quickly being destroyed.
I would strongly recommend that no logging be done within five miles all along the east side of all the mountains, buffers be properly placed, logging should stay away from areas where there is a high volume of people visiting, and that there be complete stoppage of the Ghost River clearcut logging and planned logging of Lesueur Creek and Jamiesen Road area.
