As many people in Cochrane know, it has been a long and challenging road to recovery for me this past year. I have faced two surgeries, three months of chemotherapy, and more than six months of physical and mental recovery to overcome my battle with cancer. If it wasn’t for the kindness and generosity of my hometown and its residents, I would not be able to finally announce that I am cancer free. The financial and emotional support of everyone involved was the greatest assistance that I needed to beat this monster, I could not have done it alone. Even though words cannot fully convey my gratitude I still want to say Thank You.
Thank you Shannon Campbell, my loving fiancée. Your steadfast support and loving determination helped me through every challenge. You were there for every chemo appointment and kept my spirits up when my body’s energy waned. Without you by my side late into the night and many times sleeping on the horrendously uncomfortable hospital chairs while I recovered from surgery, I would not have come out of this as whole and healthy as I am. I will never be able to truly tell you how much you mean to me, but I will spend the rest of my life showing you with my love and care.
Thank you Chester family. You were there right along side Shannon, bolstering my spirits and staying strong during what I know was a very difficult time for us all. Knowing that I had your support and love helped me focus on healing and made getting through each day bearable.
Finally. Thank You Cochrane! With a special thank you to Jeff Decter from Cochrane Toyota, Gary Weirver of The Bavarian Inn in Bragg Creek, Gabriel Steier and Krista Sorbey of Royal LePage Real Estate in Cochrane. Your generosity helped me face my financial burdens and conquer them so they did not interfere with my efforts to overcome this battle. Your support through the creation of the GoFundMe account allowed me to keep every bill I had up to date and gave me the time I needed to truly recover.
The road has been a long one and I know there is still recovery yet to come. Now I can face the rest on my own two feet and can start giving back to my community. I will never forget the challenges I had to face, but I know that without the help of everyone in my life I may not have succeeded at all.
