I have been a resident of Glenbow for many years, long before Footstock ever came to be. For many years this event would move quietly through our community invoking inspiration and pride. Recently however Footstock has descended upon Glenbow like a heavy stomping boot.
They descend with their barriers and barricades impeding access to my home and that of many others. I am no longer free to come and go without meeting obstacles and perceived inconvenience to them. For the second year now they have even invoked road closures, denying residents the right to move through their own community.
How is it that the will of a singular special interest group is permitted to deny the right of an entire community without any form of prior consultation and consent? Shame on the Town for allowing this to happen. Footstock did distribute information in the week preceding the event but there is a vast difference between providing notice and gaining informed consent.
For the residents of Glenbow this is our home. So when the organizers of Footstock pat themselves on the back and congratulate themselves for another successful year they ought to apologize to the community of Glenbow. They are an imposing and disruptive uninvited guest.
