It was a real pleasure to be at the Royal Canadian Legion on Monday night to hear Brian Jean and Jason Kenney outline the work that has been done in the past year to unite Alberta's conservative parties and to discuss their hopes for the opportunity presented on 22 July.
Alberta's conservatives have certainly come a long way in the past year, from the gem of an idea that many thought either impractical or impossible, to the reality of a generational opportunity to unite Alberta conservatives and create a strong, vibrant and coherent political solution for all of Alberta.
Jean and Kenney radiated passion, energy and commitment as they reminded the engaged audience of the ideological and delivery limitations of the current government, and described the challenges in presenting an electable political alternative.
In truth, the speakers reminded me of the quality of life and opportunities that attracted me to up sticks and move across the world to live in Cochrane. And how desperately we need to seize the opportunity to let those qualities shine and prosper once more. David Cooper
