My family, neighbours and colleagues that ride the existing Southland Commuter Bus support transit and urge council to approve the Service Standards and move ahead with the Request for Proposal process. A few things to consider that you might not be aware of: • The commuter buses are not flexible with only one time to go to and from. Having a local bus support this service will help it become more valuable & flexible. • Taxis are not a solution to community transit as we have no accessible ones. Also the fare for outlying communities isn’t reasonable. A ride from my sons school in Fireside back home in Riversong, one way under 2.5 km, is $15. • The Rockyview Bus is amazing however this service doesn’t fully help people keep their independence as it doesn't run on evenings or weekends plus you have to book in advanced. Now's the time to act! This is a great proposal that can help support our growing population, of all ages, while helping ease our traffic congestion. Tanya Marshall
