It is municipal election time again and we support Morgan Nagel for re-election to town council and following is why. During the past two years the pace of growth in Cochrane has resulted in many issues for council to deal with. Commercial and residential development planning, major budget expenditures and traffic movement and congestion have been at the forefront for council to make decisions on. Whether we agreed or disagreed with council’s final decisions on the many issues, we were always impressed with the research, input and position Morgan Nagel presented during deliberations. It appeared that he always approached matters with a great deal of common sense and professionalism. A major issue for many of us in Sunset Ridge has been traffic movement changes, increased volume of traffic and irresponsible and noisy drivers. The traffic movement changes have resulted in a four-way stop sign at Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Drive/Square. This intersection has been the scene of frequent horn honking, pedestrian safety concerns and many illegal vehicle infractions. Appeals have been made by numerous residents for enforcement action to reduce these issues. Through disappointment that the enforcement being done was having little affect on the problems, we contacted Morgan Nagel and shared our frustrations. He listened to our concerns and advised he would get back to us. During the past year, Mr. Nagel has pursued our concerns with enforcement bodies, town planning personnel and the area developer. He has kept us informed of the information he has learned throughout this process. Eventually, there will be traffic lights at this problem intersection and that there should be a secondary entrance/exit road into Sunset Ridge. Today, we still have a problem with traffic flow, volume, irresponsible drivers and excessively noisy vehicles. What we do know however is that if we have any municipal issue, we can contact Morgan Nagel who will listen and respond. Thank you Morgan Nagel for your efforts this past two years.
