The guy who wrote about the un-green effects of wind power overlooked the big cost. Those "slowly" rotating turbine blades may seem innocuous, but they kill thousands of migrating bats and birds. When a bat approaches a blade, the air pressure effect almost explodes it. Alberta requires wind farm proponents to address that, but they aren't required to address the effect on birds. One outfit proposed a wind farm near Vermilion, close to the Saskatchewan border. That's in the flyway of migrating geese, swans, sandhill cranes and whooping cranes. Donald Thomas
