I am pleased to say that the writer of the letter to the editor published May 3 titled "Needy fall through the cracks" was ill-informed, and in fact there are affordable housing options for seniors in Cochrane. Rocky View Foundation’s mandate is to provide affordable and safe housing to seniors. Our Big Hill Lodge has been proudly offering supportive living (SL2) for 41 years. We house folks 65+, providing all meals, social and leisure programs, housekeeping services and 24-hour staffing. We also manage Evergreen Manor for Alberta Seniors and Housing. Evergreen is a community of 22 apartments for independent seniors. Rent at both sites is geared to income. We work with many community partners, including Cochrane Home Care and Family Community Support Services to support seniors in our community. I urge readers to refer any senior in need of housing to us. Please see our website www.rockyviewfoundation.org for more information.
