I must commend Matthew Rowley for voicing an important element of council's push to cut trash services. I don't recall any council member campaigning on the platform of achieving any service reduction targets, or obtaining any gold stars for reducing waste. This is an essential service which our tax dollars are intended to provide, and not some "cause" to be taken on. This reminds me of my children's school that aims at "being green" by not providing any trash bins in the lunch room. That way they produce "zero waste." In reality, the waste is simply transported back home in their lunch bag. By cutting trash collection service, the town may be reducing the waste on record, but the truth is that it still exists and will end up somewhere. By the same logic the town is using, we should also cut sewage services. Then we could get a gold star for having zero waste water in Cochrane. Stick to the job you were hired for! GF Bertram
