It’s the 10th anniversary of the Canadian Country Christmas, presented by Eleven 11 Entertainment and Canadian Country Music Award (CCMA) winner, Sean Hogan.
The annual Christmas concert makes it’s way across the country, showcasing Canadian country music talent and fundraising for various charities. The Cochrane show will be held at the Cochrane Alliance Church on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Partial proceeds from the show will go toward the Canadian Cancer Society.
Performers include Erin Haley, Sean Hogan, Samantha King, Jake Mathews, Duane Steele and Shane Yellowbird. “I’ve been singing as long as I can remember,” laughed songstress, Erin Haley, who lives in Whitecourt. With two full-length albums under her belt buckle, House on Fire (2010) being the most recent, Haley is looking forward to putting out another album in the near future – only this time, it may not be a solo endeavour.
“A good friend of mine, Amber Haydey, and I are working on a duo project,” explained Haley. “The main thing is we’re good songwriters together because we’re so honest with each other.”
Haley has done the bulk of her songwriting in Nashville, Tenn., while her recording has been in Toronto.
Also joining the stage will be CCMA-winner, Calgarian Jake Mathews.
Mathews released his latest single, “A Woman and a Song” last month.
“It’s at number 45 in the charts and climbing,” said Mathews, who said he’s been fortunate over the years. “Radio has been really supportive of me, as has Country Music Television.”
With three full-length albums on the shelf, Mathews is getting his boots back into the studio in January for an anticipated spring 2014 album release.
“Alberta is a great place, when I knew that I wanted to be a country artist, I knew I would make Calgary my home,” said the Sudbury, Ont. native.
Tickets to Canadian Country Christmas are $30 for adults, $15 for youth ages 17 and under.
